Egg Donation treatment, is a quite straightforward procedure as there is donor availability and no waiting list. All donors are tested regularly for HIV1,2, HCV, VDRL, HBsAg, according to the local law which is similar to HFEA, as well as karyotype and cystic fibrosis. Furthermore, a complete personal and family medical history is taken. Donors remain anonymous and only specific characteristics can be given, such as height, weight, colour of eyes and hair, complexion of skin as well as educational level and occupation. Donor matching is determined mainly on the physical characteristics, therefore we recommend to the donors to provide us with a photo. There is a wide variety of egg donors, so hopefully the decision will not be restricting.
All donors are currently living in Greece and most of them are Europeans but we also have Africans and Asian donors.
An initial consultation is required, which takes place in the ‘’Ovum Fertility Consultants Group’’ facility. However, there is also a possibility to be scheduled as a 1 hour consultation with a Consultant Embryologist in London. Moreover, both the recipient and the partner need to be checked for HIV1,2, HCV, HBsAg and VDRL.
